When our founder, chief cook (and, yes, pot washer) Tom was in his late teens back in Cheshire, he developed a passion for having people round and cooking good food for them. An early inspiration came from watching one of his dad's friends, Bill, cooking paella over an open fire in the garden. Bill quartered a whole rabbit right there, glass of wine in hand, with great conversation flowing around the smoke and the flames. It was a masterclass in the way authentic, unhurried food brings people together.

That sparked something in Tom. He started hosting his own friends, famously spending hours recreating giant, cricket-ball-sized burgers to feed a crowd. He quickly discovered that he didn’t mind if a meal took three, four, or even five hours to prepare—so long as the end result brought joy to the people eating it.

For most of his career, Tom worked in manufacturing and engineering. But his real culinary turning point came in 2023 when he commuted to Ireland every week to run the central kitchens for a beloved heritage food brand. Overseeing a team of over a hundred chefs and kitchen staff, Tom was surrounded by the daily creation of incredible food. He realized that it was entirely possible to craft rich meats, indulgent gravies, and beautiful slow-cooked meals on a larger scale using the exact same care, ingredients, and methods you would use in your own kitchen.

The weekly flights to Dublin from Heathrow gave Tom plenty of time to watch the entire back catalogue of MasterChef – The Professionals on the flights, which inspired him to sign up to chef school at Leiths Academy of Food and Wine in 2024.

Armed with a lifetime of operational expertise and a deep, enduring passion for cooking, Tom had an epiphany: Why not do this for myself, right here at home?

Today, Tom calls Marlow home. Settled right by Marlow bridge overlooking the river, this business is his personal passion project. His mission is simple: to make food for his local community that he would be proud to serve his own friends and family.

When you hold one of our meals, you’re holding food made without compromises. While some pre-prepared meals might pad out the price with cheap sides like rice or mashed potatoes, we focus entirely on the star of the show. We pour our heart (and our hours) into generous portions of premium meats and rich, indulgent gravies. It is real, honest, craft-led cooking.
